About your teacher!
This is my fifth year teaching and my second year at Oak Grove West. I love teaching and I love having fun during the school year. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with Mr. Heflin and my pets. I have two dogs and a cat. I love to read and I think that it's a very important part of life. I want all of my students to learn the fun that can happen between the covers of a book. I spent the summer working on my Master's Degree Program through Benedictine University and traveling. I was able to go to London, Paris, Rome, Pompeii, Venice, Munich, and Iceland this summer. It was very educational and eye opening. Travel, in my opinion is one of the best teachers.
Those parents and students that know me, also know that I attended schools in the area growing up. I was born in Carbondale, Illinois and started school in West Frankfort, IL. When I was in the 1st grade we moved to Peoria. I started at Pleasant Valley and stayed there until 6th grade. During my 6th grade year I started going to school at Hollis Grade School in Bartonville. When I graduated 8th grade, I moved to Henderson, NV for my freshman and sophomore year. I moved back to Bartonville and finished high school at Limestone. I went to ICC and received my Associates in Arts with a focus on elementary education and then moved on to Bradley. I graduated in 2011 from Bradley with a degree in both regular education and special education. I am now pursing a Reading Specialist degree and will finish next summer.
I love being a special education teacher and getting to know each of my students. I am very excited about all of the goals we have to reach this year!
